According to Ric Dentinger’s mother, he was always different than other children, including his five siblings. At the age of 3,he would sit alone and draw for hours on long sheets of paper stretched across the floor; the local butcher always stood ready to refill the paper supply whenever it dwindled. Today Dentinger, who counts Andrew Wyeth, Winslow Homer, John Pike and John Singer Sargent among the artists he admires, maintains his child-like enthusiasm for art and color. Ric Dentinger was awarded the Chandler Bellows Memorial Award for Excellence in the Philadelphia Watercolor Society’s 109th International Exhibition. Juror of Selection, Stephen Quiller, AWS df, NWS selected 80 works on paper from 475 Entries. Juror of Awards, Stephen Doherty, awarded over $ 6,000.00 in prizes for Outstanding Achievement. The Exhibition marked the 5th collaboration between the Berman Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Watercolor Society.
Ric Dentinger wins Gold Medal and Best of Show in the Texas Watercolor Society’s 60th Exhibition.
Ric Dentinger was selected as the Gold Medal and Best of Show winner in the Texas Watercolor Society’s 60th Exhibition for his 15” x 29” painting “Cupcake Falls”. The Exhibition was held in San Antonio, Texas, March 6-22, 2009 at the Witte Museum located at 3801 Broadway. The Texas Watercolor Society’s 2009 Judge, Pat Dews, remarked that the talent for this years’ entries was remarkable. Ric Dentinger won the Richard Barrett Memorial Award in the 2009 California Watercolor Association 40th National Exhibition for his painting “Little Wing”. The juror, John Salminen, chose 100 paintings ( and only 15 awards) for this year’s Exhibition from the many entries throughout the United States and Canada.
The Show hung from March 18 to May 24 in the Historic Presidio of San Francisco overlooking the scenic Golden Gate Bridge. The awards for the show were presented on March 22 at a private reception.
